Mrvica
Pianist Maksim Mrvica was born in Šibenik in 1975, where
he finished his primary and secondary music school. As
early as a nine-year old boy, he started playing in
public but gave his first concert when he wes almost
twelve. Having given many concerts in his native town,
Maksim Mrvica entered the Academy of Music in Zagreb in
1993, where he graduated in 1998. The same year he took
a one-year-master's course at the Liszt Ferenc
Conservatoire of Budapest. In March 2000, he continued
improving his playing tecnique at the Alexnder Skrjabin
Conservatoire of Paris.
Maksim is already performed in all bigger cities in
Croatia, in Salzburg and Vienna (Austria), Geneve
(Switzerland), Budapest (Hungry), Paris (France) and St.
Petersburg (Russia). He has had successful recordings
for the Crotian Radio and Television. Maksim Mrvica has
cooperated with the Orchestra of the Acdemy of Music in
Zagreb nd the Symphonic Orchestra of the Croatian Radio
Television (Alan Buribaev).
He was awarded a couple of times in Croatia and abroud.
Let us mention here the First Award at the State
Competition for Musical Students held in Zagreb,
Rector's Award given by the University of Zagreb
(academic year of 1997/98), the Austrian Rotary Club
Award in 1998, the First Award at the Internationl
Pianists' Competition of Nicolai Rubinstein in Paris in
1999, and the First Award at the Portoise Pianists'
Competition held in Paris in 2001.
Apart from full time styding at the Academy of Music, he
also took many masters classes with some of the highly
esteemed world pedagogues and pianists.
He was also given Porin 2002, the award for the best
album in the category of clasical music.
Maksim Mrvica has seriously sterted conquering the world
scene of music. His album The Piano Plaer was
internationally released by EMI Classics. So close to
the musical world of Vanessa Mae, Maksim's album is seen
as an exciting mixture of the best from the world of pop
and classical music. His concerts are much more like
techno-parties or rock-concerts than classical recitals.
After a great success achieved with two albums, The
Piano Player nd Variations Part I & II, golden and
platinum printing runs in Croatia, as well as with The
Piano Player DVD released last year, another DVD is
available in shops.
The Essential Maksim DVD contains still unknown
recording of the premiere of his last album Variations
that was held in Japan in September last year, when the
album was presented by the live performances of Kolibre
and Amazonic, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Bohemian
Rhapsody, Totentanz and PagRag. Besides, this DVD
includes a part of Maksim's premiere of album The Piano
Player in London, four video-recordings, and Variations
EPK. Its additional attractive feature stems still
unknown audio recording of Mozart's Requiem by Maksim.
Maksim played last year in full amphitheatre and
together with Slovene philharmonic, he thrilled the
audience. |
